Just purchased plans, a kit or sub-kit, or a partially completed aircraft? Join the club!

We know that feeling you may have right now - what have you gotten yourself into?

Building an airplane is a commitment of time, energy, money, and effort that can be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life. YOU CAN DO THIS!

The Sonex/Waiex/Onex/Xenos
community welcomes you! We hope you enjoy the build process, and offer the following items of advice.

Contact us if we can help answer questions or even ease any concerns you may have!

Here are some things to keep in mind:

    - Join your local EAA chapter. Your local EAA chapter may have local builders, EAA technical
inspectors who will inspect your project and qualify you for a discount on insurance, and
sometimes even tools you can borrow.
Click here to find the chapter nearest you.

    -
S
ign up for the Sonexbuilders.net forum .

    - Sign up for a workshop from
Sonex or EAA

    - Start gathering tools.
Sonex has lists of recommended tools and we have some tool reviews

here.

    - Find a builder near you to see if you can visit their project and learn how their build is
      progressing.

    - Remember that mistakes will happen, and are part of the process. Learn from them, and do
your best to make every part exactly to specifications as shown on the plans.

    - Start reading the
plans. You'll be amazed at the amount of detail in every page!
